Due to a water leak during maintenance on 2nd Ave SE, the Town of Altona Public Utilities Department had to temporarily shut off water service to all residences on 2nd Ave SE. The interruption is expected to end by 6pm today, Thursday, September 12th. We will work to restore water service as promptly as possible.
Unfortunately, when line pressure drops below 20 psi the Office of Drinking Water mandates that a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory be issued. Once water service has been restored, the precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect. It will end after two consecutive lab analyses come back as negative. These samples will be taken 24 hours apart from one another with results normally coming back the following day. We are anticipating this advisory to be lifted by Tuesday, September 17th, but you will be notified directly for confirmation.
