Communications Officer (term)
Are you self-motivated, creative, and great with words? Do you have experience in marketing, social media, and/or website management? You might be just the person we are looking for! We are currently hiring a full-time Communications Officer for a one-year term, beginning in June 2026.
The Communications Officer is responsible for the creation and administration of the Town of Altona communications plan. Key duties include:
Website administration and content management
Social media management and content creation
Liaising with local media
Advertising and print media management
Providing customer service through multiple channels
Acting as a communication and media resource to all departments,
Providing administrative support within the office as needed
The successful candidate for the Communications Officer position will have the following qualifications and skills:
Solid understanding of community engagement and marketing.
Solid understanding of website administration and social media marketing.
Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
A high level of self-motivation and discipline.
The ability to work independently and plan work efficiently.
Post-secondary certificate/diploma or equivalent working experience in marketing, public relations, or public engagement (considered an asset)
